The follow post is half-funny, half-serious...

When registering with EADA (ENGLISH Amateur Dancesport Association), one is asked whether they are in posession of a BRITISH passport.   This is used in order to determine which couples are allowed to dance EADA only events.

The use of the term 'British Passport' is actually incorrect - not one person on the planet holds a "British" passport.  They hold a passport issued by "The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland".  The term 'United Kingdom Passport', or even the shorter 'UK Passport' would be appropriate here.

Effectively, this allows couples from Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland to dance for England.  (Although, given the traditional rivalry, maybe this situation never occurred?)  What does happen in this situation?

HOWEVER, given the following article: http://geography.about.com/od/politicalgeography/a/englandnot.htm it could even be argued that separate dancesport entities for England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are redundant, and there should simply one organisation - UKADA.

Maybe dancesportinfo.net should lead the way, and list couples in results as from "The United Kingdom" instead of England, Wales, etc...  ;)

OH - I do not believe so, we have had to correct several couples where we had England to Scotland or Wales and other way around, so I guess dancers want to identify with one of those 'countries'.

Also, I have never heard anybody saying that they are 'United Kingdomish', but I have heard people saying that they are British  or English or Scotish Smile [:)]
